This energetic synth-pop smash takes the listener on journey through singer, Tom Belau's mind as he deals with the crippling withdrawals of a hard breakup in todays society. Tom began writing next to you in March of 2020 right after he had gotten out of a long relationship. With the classic post-breakup loneliness combined with the world wide quarantine that had just gone into effect, the song came so naturally that it was practically finished in one weekend.
The aesthetic of Next to You is largely inspired by the 80's era of music and style. The music itself is riddled with big synth synthesizers and Synth-pop drums, while the music video's color grade is made of neon pink across a black and white back-drop.
As VYB continues to release singles in their current era of music, they aim to set a district aesthetic with each release, while still holding true to a cohesive concept throughout what will eventually be the bands entire second album.
